Aug. 15 – Duata in Mola village, Wakatobi

We were taken to Mola village, one of the Bajo communities living in stilted houses over the water.  After wandering through the village drawing attention and hearing “hey Meester photo photo photo” we waited for the Duata ceremony, a ritual curing/cleansing of spirits for good fortune.  A raft made its way to the point where a crowd gathered and we watched a Shaman and his entourage dance and sing around the raft and send an offering out to sea.
