April 25 – Sydney Opera House

We’ve heard so much about the Opera House that we had to take the tour.  It was something we could do despite the cold rainy weather.

Here’s what the promos have to say about it:  The Sydney Opera House is Australia’s most recognisable building and is an icon of Australia’s creative and technical achievement and an icon of the 20th century. Completed in 1973 at a cost of $AU102,000,000, it took 16 years to build and four years to solve the technical challenge of how to construct the roof sails.  The history, difficulties and materials used are really fascinating plus it’s a delight to photograph.
