We’re anchored in Owen Channel at Flinders Island and will head out about 0500 tomorrow morning. Next stop is Morris Island. We anticipate arriving Cape York about June 23 and Darwin July 1. We’ve been mostly day hopping along the coast with Nick and Kathy on Impala. We had great downwind sailing but the last couple days have been windless and only motoring. Aside from some equipment failures which Jim has fixed it’s been some of the best sailing we’ve done in a long time. Unfortunately my computer just crashed so it will be quite a while before I can get anything posted to the blog in detail. No wifi until Darwin. Today we took the dinghy over to Stanley Island where we had a pleasant bush walk to view some Yuthiwarra cave paintings. They inhabited Stanley Island for about 2900 years and left about 60 years ago. A few days back, at Lizard Island, we hiked to the top of Mt. Cook (385 meters) for a spectacular view. Definitely can’t go in the water here because of the salties (crocodiles) but it’s sure beautiful landscape.
