Sept. 28 – intense turquoise, bright white sand and warm baguettes in Baie de Kuto, Ile des Pins

We buddy-boated with Impala for an easy sail from Noumea to Prony, then next day Prony to Kuto.   Kuto is a huge anchorage with easy access to shore. Views are spectacular with all shades of blue from sky to water and sand so white it hurts your eyes. Not much here except a couple of low-key resorts, a boulangerie and a tiny store. One main road circles the island. We wandered through the ruins of an old convict prison built in the 19th century.  We ordered our baguettes and next morning I walked an hour roundtrip to pick them up.  The smell of warm baguettes in my backpack was heaven. There’s nothing like warm bread and brie for breakfast.
