Peterson Bay on Aug. 17, 2013

After spending a week in Port Vila checking in and cleaning up the boat, we headed up to Peterson Bay to meet our friends Kathy and Nick on Impala.  We were the only boats anchored in the outer anchorage and we enjoyed some paddling and snorkeling before the wind kicked up.

One day we caught a ride from Oyster Resort into Luganville where we hired a taxi to drive us out to Million Dollar Point, return in two hours and drive us back to our dinghies.  The water was pretty clear and snorkeling over all the military equipment dumped into the bay after WW2 was fascinating.  Unfortunately I didn’t bring my camera so you’ll just have to imagine all sorts of debris overgrown with sea life.

We also made a trip up both rivers to their blue holes where we enjoyed the cold fresh water and rope swings.   It’s always a treat to be able to soak in fresh water.   We also dinghied over to Oyster Resort for dinner one evening.  Jim said his filet mignon was one of the best he’s had in a long time.
