Day 28 – Dec. 19 – short black and Fergburger

Once again on the road with a brief stop in Athol (what a name for a town!) and Jim finally found a good coffee description that works for us – “short black, fill with hot water and top off with cold water”.  Kiwis are serious about their coffee and it’s been a challenge for us to order coffee we can drink.  We considered this a minor success.

We drove through Queenstown, stopping at Fergburger because so many people told us we just had to stop there for the best hamburger in the world.  Well Jim still thinks his best burger was Marina Papagayo in Costa Rica.  My best veggieburger was back in CA.  After a messy lunch we drove to Arrowtown and stopped at Provisions (another one of those Cafes) and the Sweet Shop to sample their fudge.  It’s a cute little commercial “old town” but we were headed to Wanaka.
