Day 9 – Nov. 30 – Jim the knife maker

Pretend this is Jim typing…”it was my highlight of the trip to South Island.  The workshop started with hatchet-throwing lessons until everyone had arrived.  I pounded red-hot steel with my own two hands and walked away with a beautiful knife created from a bar of steel and a plank of wood.”

If you want more detail you’ll have to ask him.

Steve and Robyn live across the street from the Tasman Sea (West Coast ocean) in Barrytown.   They also have aviaries of cockatoos, ducks and horses.  Homemade champagne was sipped at the end of the workshop.  Pretty interesting people these folks.   http://www.barrytownknifemaking.com/

What was I doing while Jim was frolicking with open flames?  Sorting out our visa issues with Immigration, but who’s keeping track.
