Day 12 – Dec. 3 – hiking and driving and eating, oh my

We love it here at Halfmoon Cottage.  At the head of Akaroa Harbour, across the street from the Barry’s Bay, we are surrounded by English gardens, verandahs, and pasture land.  The old farm house is tastefully cared for and I was ready to move in.  Breakfast tea in the garden, afternoon drinks on the verandah, dinner on the patio – it’s the perfect place to relax.  We were centrally located to explore the Banks Peninsula so we put a fair number of miles on the car by driving to the beach at Okains Bay, along Summit Drive into Akaroa, and out past French Farm to Wainui to the end of the road.  We also did a few day hikes and walked the Onawe Peninsula, a wee bit of land poking out into the bay.  We were sad to leave after three nights.
