Oct. 19 – Awei, Maskelyne, Malakula Island – day two

Another early morning start.  As we rounded the point of Malakula we were in 1-2m (3-6ft) choppy and confused seas and over 25kt of wind.  We took a lot of water over the bow.  The wind stayed strong all day but the seas calmed a little although the swells increased.  The chart warned of big seas in this area.

Coming into Maskelyne we saw some beautiful and odd rock formations.  Trees shaped like people tettering on tiny bits of rock.  Once inside all was calm and we anchored in front of a small beach with several hand hewn canoes.
