Since we’ve been back in Whangarei it’s been daily downpours and wind, with several days of horizontal rain. April 8 was day two of blue skies and no rain. New Zealand counts their sun in hours, not days. That explains a lot.
We’re in the middle of a mandatory four-day holiday for Easter and all boat-related businesses are shut for the duration. We decided to drive the Whangarei Headlands Art Trail which is similar to Open Studios or Pro Arts at home. It gave us a chance to investigate NZ homes and gardens. I loved watching Justin Culina blowing glass in his studio. It reminded me of my glassblowing days in Santa Monica.
