We left Niuatoputapu early in the morning along with several other boats. The wind was 15+, perfect sailing conditions when suddenly Shango, just ahead of us, advised there was whale activity and to get my camera ready. We saw a mother and calf (?) off starboard not too far away but it was nearly impossible to get a decent shot but lots of shots AFTER breaching. Naturally Jim was reluctant to get close after our previous whale encounter off Hawaii, but I persuaded him to turn around so I could try again.
