Sept. 9 snorkeling with mantas in Suwarrow

We went snorkeling to look for the manta rays that come into the reef for cleaning.  Sort of like a car wash for mantas when tiny fish eat away the debris on their bodies.  There were 7 of us and we got to see 2 mantas.  They were huge, I mean seriously big.   And then there were more sharks – a black tip, a white tip and a gray shark – they all came by to check us out but quickly left.  We decided to stay until tomorrow so we could finish up last minute chores.  Looks like we’ll still have good wind when we leave tomorrow.  We’ve heard anchoring in Pago Pago is very tricky.  What’s new.

He was huge, like oh 15-20 feet across the wings.
