May 28 – Nuku Hiva

This is a big calm bay with lots of boats and very few stern anchors.  On Sunday we went to church to hear the singing which is truly amazing.  The bulk of our time was spent relaxing and reading and napping.  Wifi is iffy and very expensive – nothing new about that.

one of the bays we visited

one of those strange things we saw hanging from a tree

they call it the sausage tree – this is a view toward the marina area

and more fruit growing

this is part of a prior hotel but apparently the family who inherited the land aren’t keeping it open as a hotel

these are sculptures lining the marina area

the cemetery at the far end of town
