June 4 – Hooumi Bay, Nuku Hiva to Tuamotos and the Polynesian canoes

Our anchor was up at 7:30am and we motored to catch up with the Polynesian canoes who left just before us on their way to HI.  Seven to eight highly decorated catamarans made a spectacular show with ancient symbols, beautifully carved paddles and all manner of high-tech marine gear underneath.  We did 135 miles in light winds that felt like we were floating through the water.
